Applied Physiology
Navigator™

Navigator™ is a clinical decision support system that enables a systematic approach to hemodynamic management. Navigator™ is Applied Physiology’s flagship product and is due for release early next year pending regulatory approval.

Navigator™ connects to conventional monitors and uses a series of mathematical algorithms draw a map of the patient’s status in relation to the patient target zone (PTZ). The PTZ is drawn based on patient specific pressure and flow targets set by the clinician. A red dot represents the patient status, and the corresponding arrow indicates the target zone path - the direction that will bring the patient closer to all of the defined targets. This self-adaptive protocol enhances teamwork and standardizes care by unifying the goals of the clinicians.

This implementation of targeted therapy is expected to improve patient outcomes in critical care units.

Navigator™ is designed for use in critical care units where resuscitation, stabilization and optimization of hemodynamic and oxygen metabolism is required. It is recommended for use on a broad range of patients including those undergoing or suffering from:

  • Pre and post open heart surgery
  • Pre and post major surgery
  • Hypo/Hypervolemic shock
  • Septic shock
  • Cardiogenic shock
  • Drug overdose
  • Sedated patients
  • Renal failure
  • Major burns
  • Major trauma

Navigator™ will be available for sale in Europe and Australia in the second quarter 2010. It will be available for sale in the US pending regulatory approval from the FDA.
